In this article, we would like to review the specific requirements of the PPWR Regulation using the example of our material PET (polyethylene terephthalate) and show how we at EPROPLAST fulfil these requirements.
Reduced packaging waste
It is not only new packaging that is carefully checked to see how much packaging material is absolutely necessary for the respective application, but we also offer our customers tried and tested packaging in various grammages.
These adjustments help to minimise material consumption and reduce waste.
Easy to recycle
The regulation requires packaging to be easily recyclable. PET is not only 100% recyclable, but also easy to reuse.
As a mono-material, it is easily recognised and sorted in recycling plants, meaning that it remains directly in the recycling stream.
However, it is also important to ensure that the colours of PET are easily detectable so that the material can be effectively identified and recycled.
At EPROPLAST, we only use carbon-free colours to meet these requirements.
Use of rPET
With a few exceptions, all plastic packaging must have an rPET content. The required minimum percentage differs depending on the type of use of the packaging.
We offer our customers an rPET content of 30 %, 50 % or 100 % PET.
However, we will be happy to tell you why we recommend an rPET content of 50 % in a personal discussion.
Labelling and information
All packaging must be specially labelled and include information on correct disposal.
PET packaging is already labelled and can be recognised by the "1" in the triangle, which is usually located at the bottom of the bottle.
This clear labelling supports the recycling process and helps consumers to dispose of waste correctly.
Our commitment to EPROPLAST
At EPROPLAST, we are committed to implementing the requirements of the PPWR regulation and at the same time developing new innovative packaging solutions.
For PET packaging in particular, we see great potential to help reduce packaging waste and promote the circular economy by complying with the new regulation and increasing the use of recycled materials.
Our expertise in PET packaging is designed to help you achieve your sustainability goals.
Let's talk together about how we can make your packaging requirements future-proof.
